Turtle-Doves are smaller than doves. They spend the greatest part of the day on tree branches. They are active in the morning and late in the afternoon when they feed. Their flight is fast and vigorous. At noon they fly to watering-places. They search for food in small flocks at stubble-fields and sunflower fields. They prefer forest periphery next to open area and water. They are greatest in number in the plain areas of the country.

Turtle-dove hunting in Bulgaria

Hunting season: from 15th August to 30 th September

Hunting area: The presence of many sunflower fields and plane forests where the turtle-doves nidificate turnes the territories into a very suitable place for this hunting.

Acompaning hunting: It can be combined with the hunting of quails.

Paquage price per person including 120 turtle-doves per hunter:
4 hunting days, min. 4 hunters - 1650 €

The price includes:

  • Welcome to the airport
  • Accomodation in a three star hotel or a hunting house in single rooms on a full board basis during the above indicated period
  • The transfers from the airport to the hunting areas and back to the airport, all the transfers in the hunting area
  • The assistance of an interpreter from the arrival to the departure
  • The organization of the hunting with qualified staff, local hunting guides
  • Bulgarian hunting licence valid 30 days
  • Export documents
  • 120 turtle-doves per hunter


The price does not include:

  • All that is not mentioned in the “The price includes”
  • The transport to/from Bulgaria
  • The alcoholic drinks


Extra charges:

  • Rent a dog per day - € 25
  • Rent a hunting gun per day - € 25

  • Valid passport or identity card
  • Permit of export of guns
