Wood grouses (capercaillie) in Bulgaria range from 4 to 5 kg in weight. Bulgaria is one of the few countries in Europe where this rare and valuable trophy can be obtained.

The wood grouse's lekking at dawn, before the sunrises in the pristine forests, is an unforgettable experience . The natural habitats of the capercaillies are high in the Rhodope Mountains and Rila. Wood-grouse hunting takes placein the mountain hunting reserves of Bulgaria. It can be matched withchamois and wild boar hunting.

Wood grouse hunting area:Coniferous and mixed forests with rounded crests and slopes lit up by the sun, alpine fields and crops. The presence of white pine makes the hunting area more attractive for the wood grouse, but it also populates spruce forests. The hunt takes place early in the morning, at dawn. The hunting method is by stalking. Only male capercaillies may be shot.

Wood grousehunting season: from 15th of April to 15th of May

Accompanying hunt: It can be combined with the hunt for chamois and wild boars from a high seat.

Organisation:

Please let us know about your exact travel dates and requirements in advance. We will acquire the necessary hunting permit for you. You can import your firearms and munitions without any difficulty only with a permit for the export of guns and cartridges.

Trophies:

Insurance:

Unfortunately, we cannot accept any liability for losses, injuries, accidents or delays. Therefore, we would advise you to take out the appropriate insurance to cover these risks before travelling.

Weapons:

Rifles and Flobert rifles can be used, as well as 223 and all small caliber shotguns. In Bulgaria the use of a smoothbore weapon is recommended. Rounds- from № 2/0 to № 4/0

Accessories:

Light, heat insulating clothes (allowing the hunter to move stealthily if possible); binoculars, night vision goggles and other optical devices.
